Mel Allen    VP of Business Development/Co-Founder

Mel Allen has 13 years of experience in providing quality service to the high tech consulting industry focusing on specialized assignments for Software and Hardware Engineers. Mel holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA.

Prior to co-founding S & A Associates, Mel worked for one of the largest national staffing firms where he received recognition consecutively for being one of the top producers in the nation. Mel takes pride in achievements of having over 114 consultants on billing at the same time. His experience within the industry led to multiple invitations as a corporate speaker at National Sales Meetings lecturing on top performance techniques.

Mel continually develops new business relationships with Corporate Executives of High Tech companies within the Silicon Valley, offering services that keep up with changing staffing goals, strategies, policies and procedures while coordinating the achievement efforts with the local recruiting staff. Mel has also been responsible for initiating and managing the on-site staffing programs, temporary payroll accounts, sub-contractors, billing and reporting.

Ed Smay    VP of Staffing/Co-Founder

Ed Smay has over 10 years staffing/recruiting experience and a technical background of 25 years in Networking and Communications working for LSI Logic, BT North America/Concert Management Systems and Internex. He attended the University of Maryland and UC Santa Cruz, studying network management.

Ed started his recruiting career in 1996, which is based on his technical background, management experience and customer service attitude. He has been successful as a Sr. Recruiter/Staffing Manager, working in Placement Agencies and as a Contract Recruiter. He has worked for Intellitron/Comsys, KLA-Tencor, S3/Sonic Blue, AMD and Netcell. He has managed several recruiting organizations, helping them exceed their performance levels and achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Ed is a long time resident of the Silicon Valley and has continually interfaced with managers and engineers of High Tech Companies and their technologies.

Ed is instrumental in the growth of S & A, utilizing his strengths, whether it is sourcing or networking with candidates, working with managers on their hiring needs or offering guidance to the S & A staff.
